Dubai, June 7 (Xinhua) -- The visiting Emir of Kuwait on Wednesday met two top officials in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to mediate a diplomatic crisis over Qatar.

Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah arrived in Dubai on Wednesday.

He met UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, UAE state news agency WAM reported.

The two UAE leaders reiterated the importance of stepping up regional and international coordination to combat extremism and terrorism and to block their financing sources.

They also praised the role of the State of Kuwait and its endeavours for a more stable future for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Arab world.

The visit to UAE came after the Emir of Kuwait held talks in Jeddah on Tuesday with Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud on the latest developments in the region.

Kuwait's visit to Saudi Arabia and the UAE follows a decision by the two countries, along with Bahrain, Egypt, Yemen and Libya, to sever diplomatic relations with Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorism and terrorist groups.

The Emir of Kuwait had earlier called on Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad to work to "calm the situation."
