BEIRUT, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Wednesday the dual terror attacks which targeted the headquarters of the Iranian Shura Council and the shrine of late Imam Khomeini, in the Iranian capital, Tehran, that left behind a number of dead and wounded.
A statement by the foreign ministry said that "these two criminal attacks demonstrate the dreadfulness of the Takfiri terrorist ideology, through de-sanctifying a religious shrine and the headquarters of a legislative authority... aimed at destabilizing Iran and its civil peace, and attempting to provoke sectarian strife within the Iranian society and between Iran and the region."
The statement urged the international community to unite, without any delay, around one utmost priority: to defeat terrorism and uproot its roots.
The ministry underlined Lebanon's full solidarity with Iran in face of terrorist attacks, and expressed heartfelt condolences to the Iranian people, leadership and government on victims of the attacks.
