DUBAI, June 4 (Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday condemned the "terrorist crimes" that took place last night in central London, killing six people and injuring 48 others, UAE state news agency WAM reported.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, it emphasised the UAE's firm and clear stance against extremism and terrorism.

"The terrorist crimes of London reaffirm the urgent need for concerted international efforts to counter extremism and terrorism in all its forms, and innocent civilians pay the price for these terrorist crimes," the ministry added.

The UAE foreign ministry called for "joint cooperation and response to this serious scourge that threatens the security and stability of the countries of the world."

The ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the families of victims of these terrorist crimes and wished speedy recovery to those injured.

Six people were killed and about 48 others injured by two bus stabbings and a stab in the British capital last night on the London Bridge and Borough Market, one of the most famous and oldest food markets in London, which was crowded with people at the time.
