PARIS, May 28 (Xinhua) -- A French hostage kidnapped in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has been released, the French Presidency said Sunday.
French President Emmanuel Macron welcomes the release and congratulates all the parties concerned that worked for the release, especially the authorities of the DRC, for their mobilization and the effectiveness of their actions, Elysee said in a statement.
As an employee of the Canadian mining company Banro, the French national was taken hostage on March 1 by a local armed group along with four other people, including one Tanzanian and three Congolese.
