SINGAPORE, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks finished higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 8.55 points, or 0.27 percent, to close at 3,231.24.
A total of 1.96 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 994.2 million Singapore dollars (715.92 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered decliners 254 to 194.
The STI index gained 9.12 points, or 0.28 percent, to close at 3,222.69 on Tuesday.
