ANKARA, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Two dismissed educators on a 76-day-long hunger strike have been arrested by an Ankara court on Tuesday, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
The two educators, professor Nuriye Gulmen and primary school teacher Semih Ozakca, were arrested over charge of "membership of a terror organization" on Tuesday, a day after both were detained from their homes in the capital Ankara.
Selcuk Kozagacli, the lawyer representing the educators, said they were asked about the "actual motive" behind their hunger strike in court.
However, the lawyer also said the two educators were fighting for the right to return to their job positions, which they lost in the mass government layoff after last year's failed coup.
The two educators are among more than 100,000 public employees who have been dismissed from their position under state of emergency after last July's failed coup attempt.
