ANKARA, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Turkish former prime minister Tansu Ciller has been subpoenaed on Tuesday to testify in the next hearing of the "Post-modern Coup" case in 1997.

Ankara Fifth Heavy Penal Court has subpoenaed Tansu Ciller, who was the first and only female Turkish Prime Minister and served between 1993 and 1996, to testify as a victim and a witness of the "Post-modern Coup" in 1997, local media Hurriyet Daily News reported.

The hearing of the case is scheduled to be held on July 18. Ciller has skipped previous hearings into the case, citing health issues.

Ciller was the head of the True Path Party (DYP) and deputy Prime Minister during the 1997 coup.

On February 28, 1997, the army and the media came together in Turkey to force the government to resign by issuing a military memorandum.

The army-led campaign eventually forced the resignation of cabinet in June 1997.
