DUBAI, May 23 (Xinhua) -- A tyre burst triggered a bus loaded with workers to hit a lorry on Tuesday morning, killing 7 passengers and injuring 35, Dubai daily Gulf news reported.
The accident took place near Dubai's free port Jebel Ali on Alyalais Street between Mohammad Bin Zayed Road and Shaikh Zayed Road, said Dubai Police.
The bus transporting 41 passengers, including the driver who lost control of the vehicle, Gulf news quoted Dubai Police Brigadier Said Al-Mazroui, director of Traffic Department in Dubai police, as saying on Tuesday.
Civil Defense members were rescuing 22 people who were trapped inside the bus. The lorry driver was trapped in his cabin and was rescued.
Al-Mazroui said some of the wounded were air-lifted to Dubai's Rashid hospital due to serious injuries.
