Macao's visitors spending up 16.6 pct in Q1

MACAO, May 19 (Xinhua) -- China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) saw the total spending of visitors reach 13.46 billion Macao patacas (1.7 U.S. dollars) in the first quarter of 2017, up 16.6 percent year-on-year, according to figures released by Macao's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) on Friday.

In the first quarter of 2017, visitors' per-capita spending was 1,709 patacas, an increase of 10.5 percent year-on-year, the figures indicates.

The per-capita spending of visitors from the Chinese mainland and Singapore amounted to 2,002 patacas and 1,825 patacas respectively, the figures shows.

Meanwhile, per-capita spending of overnight visitors increased by 6.8 percent year-on-year to 2,696 patacas, and that of the same-day visitors went up by 6.9 percent to 725 patacas.

Visitors' spending on shopping, accommodation and food and beverage accounted for 43.7 percent, 26.9 percent and 21.3 percent respectively.

In addition, results from the Visitors' Comments Survey indicated that most visitors were satisfied with the services rendered by hotels and travel agencies in the first quarter of 2017.
