Tokyo stocks fall after U.S. shares lose ground, concerns for Trump administration

TOKYO, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks fell Thursday morning tracking some U.S. shares' losses overnight with investors concerned over the course of the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 285.18 points, or 1.44 percent, from Wednesday to 19,529.70.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 21.48 points, or 1.36 percent, at 1,554.34.

Bank, insurance and securities-relates stocks declined the most by the morning break.
