HO CHI MINH CITY, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam International Motorshow 2017 is scheduled for Oct. 25 to Oct. 29 with the participation of at least seven leading car brands.
Audi, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Land Rover, Maserati and Subaru have confirmed their participation in the expo with both classical and modern models, the expo's organizers said on Wednesday.
During the five-day event in Ho Chi Minh City, car-related activities such as test-driving, stunt shows, and introduction of spare parts, banking and insurance services will also take place.
Vietnam spent over 1.8 billion U.S. dollars importing automobiles and components for assembly in the first four months of this year, up 3.9 percent against the same period last year, according to the country's General Statistics Office.
Specifically, Vietnam imported 35,000 automobiles worth 688 million U.S. dollars, up 19.7 percent in volume, but down 5.7 percent in value.
By the end of last year, there had been over 2.5 million automobiles in the country, including nearly 1.3 million cars with nine seats or fewer, over 136,700 passenger vehicles with more than nine seats, more than 1 million trucks, and roughly 105,000 special-purpose vehicles and other kinds of vehicles, announced the Transport Department under the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport.
