ANKARA, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that he would demand the extradition of preacher Fethullah Gulen during his upcoming visit to the United States.

Speaking on a press conference ahead of visits to China and the U.S., Erdogan said that he would discuss the extradition of Fetullah Gulen with the U.S. President Donald Trump on May 16.

"There are some documents and information we have prepared, which we will present to him," said Erdogan.

"In my opinion, the United States of America should not be an incubation center for FETO," he added.

Gulen and his followers are accused by Turkish government of organizing the 2016 failed coup attempt, which left 249 people dead and some 2,200 injured.

The Turkish government has launched a massive crackdown on Gulen's supporters in the aftermath of the coup attempt.
