PARIS, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Denis Masseglia was re-elected as the president of the French Olympic Committee on Thursday's General Assembly for his third consecutive term on the post.

The 69-year-old Masseglia won 556 of the total 995 votes, an absolute majority in the first round of the ballot to better two other candidates, Isabelle Lamour and David Douillet.

Masseglia firstly took the presidential position in 2009, before he was re-elected for his second spell in 2013.

Following his appointment, a new French Olympic Committee Board was also set up, with General Secretary Jean-Michel Brun and Treasurer Jean-Lou Charon winning their respective re-election for another four years.

Two days ahead of IOC evaluation delegation's arrival in Paris, Masseglia's re-election was a boost for Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Bid Committee, who expressed their congratulations to Masseglia and happiness to carry on the bidding work together.

"Congratulations to D. Masseglia for your re-election. Looking forward to continue #Paris2024 together to win for France," tweeted Paris bid co-chairman Tony Estanguet.
