TRIPOLI, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Libya's UN-backed defense minister, Mehdi Barghathi, on Tuesday paid a visit to the Tunisian border in Nalut city in western Libya.
Barghathi met with security officials of Nalut and the Tunisian border, and discussed the challenges for further development of security and fighting smuggling and illegal trade, as well as strengthening military actions in the region.
Nalut crossing is considered the second Libyan-Tunisian border after Ras-Jdair. Tunis is a main destination for Libyans who seek medical care and tourism.
Amid insecurity and chaos, the UN-backed government of national accord lately launched a campaign against smuggling across land and sea.
