BERLIN, May 9 (Xinhua) -- A German soldier suspected of terror attack planning was arrested, German local media Der Spiegel reported on Tuesday.

Prosecutors disclosed the name as Maximilian T., and said he was suspected of planning xenophobic terror attacks against Germany's migrants.

The arrest was made in the southwestern town of Kehl.

The suspect reportedly has terror links with a Bundeswehr officer, Franco A., a 28-year-old lieutenant, who was also taken into custody in April, suspected of plotting bomb attacks on migrants, disguising as refugees.

The scandals have put the German army on doubt, and some German media blamed Bundeswehr for racism and lacking leadership.

In response, German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen has vowed to dig further to get to the root of far-right sentiment.

On Sunday, all German barracks were ordered to clear off Wehrmacht relics, the old objects from the Nazi-regime army, in order to get rid of potential extremism ideas.
