BERLIN, May 9 (Xinhua) -- German authorities arrested two terror suspects from Syria, prosecutors said on Tuesday.

The two were separately caught in the capital Berlin and the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt.

Their names were disclosed as Abdulmalk A., 30, and Mousa H. A., 23. They allegedly joined the extremist group in Syria, Al-Nusra, and fought against the Syrian government forces, according to the prosecutors.

German local media reported that Abdulmalk A. had commanded a group of extremists, and he once cut the throat of a Syrian army soldier.

It is still unclear how the two suspects got their way into Germany.

Since 2015, Germany has taken more than one million migrants, among them many from war-torn Syria and Iraq.
