Swiss unemployment drops to 3.3 pct in April: report

GENEVA, May 9 (Xinhua) -- The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) reported Tuesday that 3.3 percent of Switzerland's working population was jobless in April, down from 3.4 percent in March 2017.

According to latest figures, 5,953 fewer people were unemployed last month, with 146,327 men and women classified as such by local authorities in the period under review.

SECO revealed that the jobless rate for 15 to 24 year olds decreased by 7.7 percent, with 16,216 young adults looking for a job in April.

The number of jobseekers signed up to work in Switzerland decreased by 8,891 people from March to April, standing at 208,357 people by the end of last month.
