KECSKEMET, Hungary, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Valentin Prades of France won the men's individual gold medal at the Modern Pentathlon World Cup in Kecskemet, central Hungary on Sunday.
Bence Demeter of Hungary won the silver and Ukranian Pavlo Tymoschenko took the bronze.
World No.2 Prades, who finished 4th at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, came 6th in the fencing, 22th in the swim and 9th in the riding. He won the final laser-Run event. Prade's overall score was 1,464 points.
Demeter finished just one point behind with 1,463 points, while Tymoschenko's final score was 1,461 points.
Woongtae Jun and Jinhwa Jung of South Korea, Eslam Hamad of Egypt, Denys Pavlyuk of Ukraine and Valentin Belaud of France filled out the fourth to eighth places.
On Saturday, at the women's individual final, the gold went to Lithuanian Laura Asadauskaite, (1,377 points), the silver to the Russian Gulnaz Gubaydullina (1,369 points) and the bronze went to Hungarian Sarolta Kovacs with 1,353 points.
World Cup closes on Monday with the Mixed Relay.
