MADRID, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Valencia coach Salvador 'Voro' Gonzalez confirmed on Saturday that he would not continue in the dugout of the Spanish Liga Santander club for the 2017-2018 season.

The 53-year-old made his declaration during his press conference ahead of Saturday's league match at home to Osasuna.

Voro, who had been the club matchday delegate, stepped in as caretaker coach on Dec. 30 after Cesare Prandelli resigned from the role. He had also been in the role earlier in the season before Prandelli replaced Paco Ayestaran, who lasted for just four games of the current campaign.

During his time in charge Voro has led Valencia to eight wins from 20 matches and seen their play improve enough to lift the club away from the relegation zone to mid-table, although three defeats in their last three games ended any slim chances of qualifying for Europe next season.

"I am not angry or disappointed at the decision. I am a club man," said Voro.

Current Las Palmas boss, Quique Setien is the favorite to take over the Valencia hotseat for next season and to become Valencia's 10th coach since Unai Emery left the club in the summer of 2012.
