China has no intention of staging a solo play in the Belt and Road Initiative, but would like to consult and work closely with parties concerned to make the Initiative beneficial to all, said a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Friday.
外交部发言人耿爽5日在回应有关“中国掌控‘一带一路’建设”的言论时说，“一带一路”倡议由中国提出，但其建设由大家共同进行，中方无意唱独角戏。
Spokesperson Geng Shuang made the remarks while responding to some Western opinions that the Belt and Road Initiative is not win-win as China seeks to dominate.
当日例行记者会上，有记者问：“一带一路”国际合作高峰论坛在不到十天后就将开幕，各界的关注度越来越高，媒体报道也越来越多。我们注意到西方有一种声音认为，“一带一路”倡议并非“共赢”，而是中国在“掌控”。中方对此有何回应？
"Although the Belt and Road Initiative was put forward by China, it is to be carried out by all parties. China has no intention to stage a solo play," he told a daily press briefing.
China always sticks to the principle of "extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits" in carrying out the Belt and Road Initiative, Geng said.
耿爽说，“一带一路”倡议提出以来，外界一直有各种解读。“我们也注意到你提到的类似观点。这完全是出于定式思维的误解。”
他说，“一带一路”倡议由中国提出，但“一带一路”建设是由大家共同进行。中方无意唱独角戏，也不想搞一言堂，而是始终坚持“共商、共建、共享”理念，大家一起商量，一起做事，一起受益。
他说，目前，中方正同出席高峰论坛的有关国家就论坛的成果文件进行协商。这份文件最终将是“共商”的产物，凝聚的是集体智慧和共识，而不是中方的一家之言。
The Belt and Road Initiative, comprising the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, was first proposed by China in 2013.
Since then, over 100 countries and international organizations have responded warmly to the Belt and Road Initiative, with more than 40 signing cooperation agreements with China, according to the spokesperson.
耿爽介绍，“一带一路”倡议提出以来，已有100多个国家和国际组织积极响应支持，40多个国家和国际组织同中国签署了合作协议，沿线各国积极对接发展战略、全面推进合作项目。各国“共建”的热情与日俱增，成绩有目共睹。
The Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, scheduled for May 14-15 in Beijing, will draw representatives from 110 countries.
Geng said China is in consultations with participant countries on an outcome document for the upcoming forum.
"The document will be a product of joint consultation, wisdom and consensus, rather than China's single opinion," the spokesman said.
另外，值得一提的是，将有来自110个国家的各界人士参与论坛。如果‘一带一路’真是中方‘掌控’，如果大家真的无法‘共享’收益，我想他们是不会踊跃参与的。”他说。
"China hopes to work closely with all participants for a full success of the forum and to inject new and stronger vitality into the Belt and Road Initiative," he added.
耿爽说，总之，中方愿与与会各方共同努力推动“一带一路”国际合作高峰论坛圆满成功，进一步凝聚共识，指明方向，做出规划，推进成果，为“一带一路”倡议注入新的、更强大的动力。
