MADRID, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Huawei Spain saw a 70 percent increase in billing and expanded its workforce by 50 percent in 2016, Jorge Zhu, director of Huawei Enterprise in Spain told a press conference here on Thursday.

"The results have been made possible thanks to the help of our Spanish partners, who have been vital for the development of the business and Huawei's success in the market," said Zhu, who added that 2016 had ended with Huawei Spain working alongside 200 strategic partners.

"That is the key to our consolidation as a provider of solutions for the digital transformation of public and private companies in Spain," he explained.

The year saw Huawei Spain sign accords with companies such as infrastructure management company, Produban, Caixabank, Spanish railway infrastructure management firm ADIF, the regional governments of Castilla-La Mancha and the Canary Islands and the universities of Malaga, Huelva and Seville.

Meanwhile, Huawei Spain worked with service providers, Telefonica, Vodafone, Orange and MasMovil to establish new services and projects, which in part allowed the company to expand its workforce to over 100 people, some of whom work in the recently opened Huawei office in Valencia.
