BUJUMBURA, May 3 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed on Tuesday night when unidentified gunmen stormed a bar in Bujumbura Rural province, some 30 km east of the Burundian capital Bujumbura, local authority said Wednesday.
"Unidentified gunmen opened fire against people who were last night taking drinks in a bar at Isare," Isare District Administrator Gilbert Niyonkuru said.
He said the gunmen ran away after the attack, which happened around 7 p.m.
the district of Isare is "nowadays facing insecurity," said Niyonkuru, adding that unidentified gunmen last Saturday threw two grenades into the compound of a senator at Isare.
"One of the grenades exploded, damaging the wall of the senator's house. Luckily, no human casualties were reported. But the second grenade did not explode," said the official.
