Myanmar's border trade up in 1st week of April

YANGON, May 1 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's border trade was up by over 40 million U.S. dollars in the first week of April, the start of the current 2017-18 fiscal year, reaching 142.68 million dollars compared with the last fiscal year, official media quoted the Ministry of Commerce as saying on Monday.

During the period, Muse border trade camp with China logged the largest value with over 90 million dollars, followed by Myawaddy camp with Thailand with over 24 million dollars.

Total foreign trade during the week-long period went to 731.914 million dollars, up by over 164 million dollars, or 29 percent compared, with the same period of the last 2016-17 fiscal year, which ended in March, the ministry's figures showed.

During that period, the export value amounted 288.387 million dollars while the import value was 443.526 million dollars.

The total annual trade value for the last 2016-2017 fiscal year was 28.801 billion dollars, increasing by 1.086 billion dollars from the previous fiscal year.
