WASHINGTON, April 29 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday celebrated his 100th day in office with a campaign-style speech, which he delivered to an ecstatic crowd in Harrisburg in the northeastern U.S. state of Pennsylvania.
Trump opened his speech with an attack on the media, saying he chose not to attend the White House Correspondents Dinner held in Washington at the same night.
"I could not possibly be more thrilled than to be more than 100 miles way from Washington's swamp," he said, "Spending my evening with all of you and with a much, much larger crowd and much better people, right?" Trump said, gaining loud cheers.
Pennsylvania is one of the three key states that gave Trump his decisive victory in last year's presidential election. At the Farm Show Complex and Expo Center where he made the speech, Trump still enjoys the firm support of those who voted for him.
"We are not going to let other countries take advantage of us anymore, from now on it's going to be America first," Trump said, referring to two executive orders he had signed prior to the speech aimed at boosting trade management.
During his speech, Trump listed his major achievements as president, most notably sending Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court and greenlighting the Keystone XL pipeline project.
But still there are campaign promises yet to be filled.
Trump has also made repeated efforts to restrict immigrants from coming into the country. However, his two executive orders to ban immigrants from certain Muslin countries were both halted by federal judges.
A bid to "repeal and replace" the Affordable Care Act also hit a dead end after House Republicans refused to agree on a replacement for Obamacare.
Despite these setbacks, there is no evidence that Trump is losing the confidence of his supporters. Polls show that few of those who voted for Trump regret their choice.
