CHANGSHA, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Yu Yuanhui, former Party chief of Nanning City in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, was sentenced Friday to 11 years in prison for graft.

The sentence was handed down by the intermediate people's court of Tujia-Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Xiangxi, Hunan Province in central China.

The court also imposed a fine of one million yuan (around 145,000 U.S. dollars) on Yu and ordered all his illicit gains to be confiscated.

The court found Yu guilty of taking advantage of his various positions in Guangxi to help others secure projects and get deductions or exemptions on land-transfer fees from 2006 to 2015.

In return, he accepted money and property amounting to more than 8.8million yuan personally or through other people, the court said.

According to the court, his confession and the fact that all his illegal gains were recovered were taken into consideration when deciding the sentence.
