RIO DE JANEIRO, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian police said Wednesday that the number of arrests after Monday's robbery of a private security company in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, had risen to 14.

The crime has been attributed to Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC), one of Brazil's largest gangs headquartered in Sao Paulo.

In a statement, the federal police said that four people were arrested on Wednesday on suspicions of having participated in the robbery of Spanish company, Prosegur, in Paraguay's border city with Brazil.

Two of those arrested Wednesday were injured in a shootout with police on Monday in the southern state of Parana, in which another three gang members were killed.

According to press reports, the robber stole around 40 million U.S. dollars but Prosegur, the Spanish company involved, denied this on Tuesday and said the loot was closer to 8 million U.S. dollars. One security guard was killed and another was injured, along with three civilians, in the attack.

The Brazilian government has placed itself at the full disposal of Paraguay to collaborate with the investigation into the attack.
