DAMASCUS, April 26 (Xinhua) -- A total of 52 slain Syrians were laid to rest in a cemetery in the capital Damascus on Wednesday, nearly two weeks after a deadly explosion targeted their busses while evacuating their towns in northwestern Syria.
Fifty-two bodies, part of over 120 slain Syrians, were brought to the predominantly-Shiite neighborhood of Sayyida Zaynab south of Damascus, as another group of bodies were buried in Aleppo city in northern Syria.
On April 15, a suicide bomber detonated his car bomb at a gathering point of buses transporting Shiites evacuating from two pro-government towns of Kafraya and Foa in Idlib province in northwestern Syria.
Photos of some bodies hanging out from bus windows and others laid on ground near the vehicles haunted Syria as well as the world.
The blast rocked the rebel-held Rashideen area in the countryside of Aleppo province, where buses carrying 5,000 pro-government Shiite people waiting for the reactivation of a deal designed to secure their transportation to government-controlled area in Aleppo.
The deal was later continued and the busses continued to their destination in Aleppo, while rebels and their families evacuated the rebel-held towns of Madaya and Zabadani.
The deal was sponsored by Iran and Qatar, with no role for the UN.
