LAGOS, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed and 12 others were seriously injured in an auto crash in central north Nigeria's Kogi State, Lokoja-Okene road Monday.
Segun Martins, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Kogi State, who confirmed the incident, said the six victims died on the spot at about 9 a.m., local time.
The accident involved three vehicles -- a truck, a Toyota Hiace bus and a Nissan Primera car, he said, noting that the truck and Toyota bus had a head on collision while the Nissan Primera car rammed into them.
The 12 persons who were critically injured were evacuated to the Federal Medical Center, Lokoja for further treatment, while the six corpses were deposited in the hospital's morgue.
Traffic accidents are very common in Nigeria. Reckless driving, speeding, overloading as well as poor conditions of roads and vehicles are blamed to be the main causes.
