BEIRUT, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's Prime Minister Saad Hariri reiterated Friday his government's commitment to the UN resolution that ended the war between Israel and the Lebanese militant group of Hezbollah in 2006.
Hariri spoke after a visit to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon headquarters in the southern border town of Naqoura accompanied by Defense Minister Yaacoub Sarraf and army commander General Joseph Aoun.
He stressed that the Lebanese armed forces are the legitimate force in charge of defending borders.
Hariri's visit came in a response to a media tour organized by Hezbollah along the border line with Israel.
This tour was met with high criticism by local and foreign officials and labeled as clear violation of resolution 1701.
Hariri therefore reaffirmed government commitment, with all its components, to the resolution, saying that the tour is "something that we, as a government, are not concerned with and do not accept."
He also mentioned Israel's continuous violations of Lebanon's sovereignty and the need to put an end to this.
