UN chief to take part in Yemen humanitarian meeting in Switzerland

UNITED NATIONS, April 20 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will travel to Switzerland on Saturday and will attend the high-level Yemen humanitarian meeting in Geneva next week, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters here Thursday.

On April 24, in Bern, he will meet with the president of the Swiss Confederation, Doris Leuthard; the Swiss foreign minister, Didier Burkhalter; and the leadership of the External Relations Committees of both Chambers of Parliament, Dujarric said at a daily news briefing here.

On April 25, in Geneva, the secretary-general will preside over the High-level Pledging Event for the Humanitarian Crisis in Yemen with the foreign ministers of Switzerland and Sweden, Margot Wallström, as co-chairs, the spokesman said. "He is expected to address the press afterwards."

On April 26-27, the UN chief will chair the meeting of the UN System Chief Executives Board for Coordination, said the spokesman.

The secretary-general will be back in the office on April 28, Dujarric added.
