BANGKOK, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Thai government has decided to improve the condition of street food sales in Bangkok, said Pornchanok Amphan, a spokesperson of the Defense Ministry, on Wednesday.

Pornchanok said after a meeting of a reform committee on the environment headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwan that authorities had already removed street vendors on some 431 locations around Bangkok to facilitate traffic flows and improve the city's cleanliness.

But street vendors in Bangkok's famous Yaowarat Road, or Chinatown and Khao San road will be kept and improved as food stalls in these two roads will have unique design of Chinese style and Thai style respectively.

"These measures are aimed at promoting the value of Thai food and souvenirs," the spokesperson said, according to Bangkok Post.

Yaowarat, a street full of Chinese style buildings and shops, and Khao San, a street full of pubs and bars are famous tourist attractions in Bangkok.
