ISLAMABAD, April 17 (Xinhua) -- The United States National Security Adviser Herbert McMaster arrived in Pakistan on Monday for talks on regional security and bilateral matters, local media reported.
McMaster is the first senior U.S. official of the Trump's administration to visit Pakistan. The visit came after his talks with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah in Kabul.
Local media reported that McMaster is scheduled to call on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and discuss bilateral matters. The U.S. official is also likely to meet Pakistan's military leadership to share views on the regional security, focusing on peace in Afghanistan.
McMaster's visit came just three days after a key meeting of 11 regional countries in Moscow which opposed military solution and called for a peaceful solution to the Afghan problem.
