AMMAN, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Jordan's Prime Minister Hani Mulki on Tuesday stressed that the U.S. role was "fundamental" to relaunch peace talks between the Palestinians and the Israelis, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

Mulki made the remarks during a meeting with a U.S. congressional delegation, when he said it was significant for the Arab states to work together with the United States to relaunch the peace talks for a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, based on the two-state solution.

Discussions also focused on efforts to combat terrorism. Mulki stressed the need for intensified and coordinated efforts to uproot terrorism and safeguard the public from radical ideologies.

The U.S. delegation members voiced support for Jordan and commended its efforts and services provided to Syrian refugees.

The two sides also looked into further cooperation in various fields.
