TOKYO, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Tuesday morning as the yen's rise against the U.S. dollar dulled the market mood and saw export-linked issues retreat.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 89.39 points, or 0.48 percent, from Monday to 18,708.49. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 8.11 points, or 0.54 percent, to 1,491.54.

Marine transportation, machinery and bank-linked stocks comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
