SKOPJE, April 10 (Xinhua) -- The European Commission expects Macedonian political leaders and institutions to pave the way to the formation of new government without further delay, media here said Monday citing Commission spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic as saying.
Speaking in a press conference, Kocijancic called on Macedonia's political actors to let the democratic process run its course, which she said included the election of a new parliament speaker and the formation of a government.
A government must be established without delay based on the parliamentary majority that is there, Kocijancic added.
She further said that the two high officials of the EU, Johannes Hahn and Frederica Mogherini, had already called on the president on Macedonia Gjorge Ivanov to reconsider his position.
The European Commission deems that the results of the recent parliamentary elections must be respected and the current uncertainties must end, Kocijancic added.
