LAGOS, April 10 (Xinhua) -- A Nigerian court on Monday sentenced seven herdsmen to life imprisonment for kidnapping Olu Falae, a former presidential candidate in the country.

The court, sitting in Akure, capital of southwest state of Ondo, found the seven guilty of the kidnap charge brought against them by the state government.

They were however, acquitted of conspiracy and armed robbery, two of the five charges.

Falae, who was also a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Minister of Finance, was abducted on his farm at Ilado village in southwest city of Akure in Ondo state on Sept. 21 by armed men before he was released days later.
