PARIS, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Two men on Sunday evening made off with 200,000 euros (213,200 U.S. dollars) worth of jewelry from the Grand Palais museum, a local news channel reported on Monday.

In a cunning heist targeting a saleswoman carrying a bag of jewelry, one of the robbers diverted her attention telling her she had dropped a note. When she was picking it up, the second man seized the bag which she had put on the ground, BFMTV news television said.

The stolen jewelry had been displayed in an exhibition of contemporary art held in the Parisian museum, it added. A police operation is underway to track the robbers.
