Russia's Medvedeva defends gold medal in Ladies' Singles

HELSINKI, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Defending champion Russia's Evgenia Medvedeva stamped her authority in Ladies' Singles competition on Friday at the World Figure Skating Championships 2017 in Helsinki, with a total winning score of 233.41 points.

Canadian skaters Kaetlyn Osmond and Gabrielle Daleman took the silver and bronze medals with 218.13 and 213.52 points respectively.

China's Xiangning Li was the 14th with 175.37 points, and Zijun Li placed the 21st with 159.80 points.

Unexpectedly, Mai Mihara from Japan raised her ranking dramatically from the 15th place in the Ladies' Short Program to the 5th in the Free Skating.

The World Figure Skating Championships 2017 are held at Hartwall Arena in Helsinki. The event continues on Saturday with Men's Free Skating and Free Dance performed on the skating rink. Enditem
