Turkish air company compensates for plane crash in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Turkish ACT Airlines transferred 600,000 U.S. dollars to the special account of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, to help the victims of a plane crash, First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Muhammetkaly Abulgaziev said on Thursday in Bishkek.

"The transferred money is part of the amount requested by the Kyrgyz governmental commission for compensation of material damage estimated at a rate of 2.8 million U.S. dollars as a result of the air crash," he said during a meeting with representatives of Centil Law insurance company.

Abulgaziev also said that the first tranche of the compensation testifies the readiness and good will of the Turkish side to pay the corresponding payments.

"We see their interest in the prompt and fair resolution of this issue," he said, adding that the distribution of money to the victims and relatives of the deceased will be made when the requested amount from the Turkish side is received in full.

The official stressed that in general there is no disagreement on the payment of material damage caused to the Kyrgyz side as a result of the plane crash, and payment of compensation to the victims and relatives of the deceased.

At the meeting with the participation of representatives of the insurance company, members of the governmental commission to study the cause of the plane crash, the sides discussed the payment of compensation for the relatives of the deceased citizens, compensation for citizens who received various injuries, and compensation for material damage to the state caused by the plane crash.

Abulgaziev said that the parties are ready for an early resolution of these issues.

ACT airlines's Boeing 747 heading to Istanbul from Hong Kong via Bishkek, could not land at Manas airport and crashed on the nearest village of Dacha-Suu. As a result of the crash, 39 people were killed, including 4 crew members, dozens of houses were destroyed.
