JAKARTA, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Some 400 athletes from 19 countries and regions will take part in an international triathlon event held in Indonesia's Bangka Belitung province from April 20 to 22, highly expected to further boost the province's tourism sector, an official in Indonesia's Tourism ministry said here on Monday.
The fifth triathlon event held in the province would be conducted in Sungailiat, the capital of the province's Bangka regency with athletes from Australia, Austria, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, Brazil, Italy, Britain, Canada, New Zealand, Sweden and Romania have registered themselves to take part in the tourism sports event.
"The upcoming triathlon would be coincidence with the city's 251st anniversary. It should be held better and greater. The event would give direct impacts to the provincial tourism sector," Deputy Tourism Minister for Domestic Tour Development Esthy Reko Astuti said.
