Death toll from Nepal bus accident rises above 20

KATHMANDU, March 9 (Xinhua) -- At least 20 persons died when and over two dozen people injured in fetal bus accident at Malika Municipality of Jajarkot district in Mid-Western Nepal on Thursday, local police said.

A police officer involved in rescue operation told Xinhua over telephone that 20 people died and around 26 were injured as ill-fated bus skidded off the road and fell some 200 meter down.

Another police officer from District Police Office, Jajarkot said that the toll has been rising since accident took place at 4.45 p.m. on Thursday.

The injured have been taken the district hospital in Khalanga for treatment.

The bus was travelling from the district headquarters -- Khalanga to Khara area of the district. Police said reason of the accident has not been known immediately.

KATHMANDU, March 9 (Xinhua) -- At least 20 persons died when and over two dozen people injured in fetal bus accident at Malika Municipality of Jajarkot district in Mid-Western Nepal on Thursday, local police said.

A police officer involved in rescue operation told Xinhua over telephone that 20 people died and around 26 were injured as ill-fated bus skidded off the road and fell some 200 meter down.

Another police officer from District Police Office, Jajarkot said that the toll has been rising since accident took place at 4.45 p.m. on Thursday.

The injured have been taken the district hospital in Khalanga for treatment.
