Saudi king calls on all nations to unite in fight against terrorism

Source: Xinhua   2017-03-02 19:44:12

JAKARTA, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz al Saud on Thursday urged all countries to come together as one in combating global terrorism.

King Salman made the remarks in his speech at the Indonesian parliament during a landmark visit to the world's most populous Muslim-majority nation.

"Actually, the challenge we, especially Muslims, face now is terrorism," the king said.

"We should close ranks in fighting this challenge and carry out coordination in taking various efforts to bring world peace for the benefit of all of us," he stressed.

Saudi Arabia and Indonesia have been targeted by the Islamic State (IS) group and taken measures to combat radicalism.

Saudi Arabia has joined a U.S.-led coalition to fight against IS militants in Syria.

Since 2000, Indonesia has been hit by a series of major suicide bombings. In January last year, the IS group launched a suicide bombing in the hearth of Indonesia's capital, leaving eight people dead and dozens of others injured.
