JAKARTA, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian transport ministry has developed several airports across the country to help accelerate expansion of tourism sector in the country, a minister said here Monday.

Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the move was expected to facilitate foreign tourist arrivals, which is estimated to rise to 15 million people this year from about 12 million last year.

The minister cited that the number of passengers heading to tourism destinations has risen sharply, which has often triggered air traffic congestion.

"At the beginning of 2019, it is expected all developments in the airports to be completed, so there is no more air traffic jam," he said.

In 2015, a total of about 10 million foreign visitors visited Indonesia.
