VALLETTA, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- There was a 22.5 percent increase in outbound tourists from Malta in Q4 2016 compared to the same period in 2015, Malta's National Statistics office said on Thursday.
There was an increase of 23.8 percent in outbound trips towards EU countries when compared to the same period in 2015.
Italy and Britain were the most popular destinations among Maltese in 2016, with a share of 54.1 percent of total tourist trips.
On a yearly basis, there was a 16.2 percent increase over 2015. Furthermore, total nights spent by outbound tourists went up by 6.7 percent, reaching almost 3.5 million nights.
