NEW DELHI, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- An Indian para-military trooper Thursday opened fire at colleagues in the eastern state of Bihar, killing four of them, a senior police official said.
"The incident took place during an official briefing of Central Industrial Security Force personnel in the state's Aurangabad town, some 120 kms from Bihar's capital Patna. Suddenly, the trooper opened fire at his colleagues, killing two on the spot and injuring two," he said, on condition of anonymity.
The injured personnel later succumbed to their injuries at local hospital, the official said, adding the accused personnel was arrested and a probe ordered into the incident.
The incident happened a day after a border guard posted three videos on social media, alleging that the soldiers posted in the frontline were served poor quality food and often they have to go to bed on an empty stomach, despite standing for hours in icy conditions.
The Indian government has ordered a probe into the allegations, but the Border Security Force has apparently rubbished the claims, saying that the soldier has a "dodgy record" and pulled up for his drinking habits and insubordination, and that he was not court-martialed on compassionate grounds.
