India inks cyber security cooperation pact with U.S.

NEW DELHI, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- India and the United States have sealed a pact for close cooperation and exchange of information in the field of cyber security.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked between Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) and US-CERT and signed by Indian Information Technology Secretary Aruna Sundararajan and American envoy in New Delhi Richard Verma Wednesday.

"The MoU intends to promote closer cooperation and the exchange of information pertaining to the Cyber Security in accordance with the relevant laws, rules and regulations of each economy," an official statement said.

Both countries had signed a similar agreement six years ago to promote closer cooperation and timely exchange of information between the organizations of their respective governments responsible for cyber security.
