BEIJING, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Trade volume between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan reached 161.38 billion U.S. dollars in the first 11 months of 2016, down 4.9 percent year on year, according to the latest figures from the Ministry of Commerce.
From January to November, exports from the mainland to Taiwan totaled 36.4 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year drop of 11.1 percent, while imports from Taiwan stood at 124.98 billion dollars, down 3 percent, according to a ministry press release.
Taiwan is the mainland's seventh largest trade partner and sixth biggest source of imports.
The mainland approved 3,072 Taiwan-invested projects from January to November, with the actual use of Taiwanese capital reaching 1.69 billion U.S. dollars, up 17 percent from the same period of the previous year.
By the end of November, the mainland had approved 98,370 Taiwan-invested projects, with the actual use of Taiwanese capital reaching 64.38 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 3.7 percent of the mainland's actual use of overseas capital.
