Vietnam to reduce up to 2 pct of public employee payroll in 2017-2021

HANOI, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has recently issued a directive which requires each ministry, sector and locality to reduce 1.5 to 2 percent of its public employee payroll during 2016-2021 compared to the respective figures in 2015.

According to the directive on boosting the implementation of reducing the size of the workforce, those that failed to reduce the designated number in 2016 will have at least three percent of public employee payroll dashed in 2017, reported the Vietnamese government's e-Portal on Monday.

Ministries, ministerial agencies, the government's bodies, people's committees of localities under the central government are urged to quickly build and ratify a master plan on reducing the size of workforce from now till 2021 and clarify the rate of reduction in each year, said the directive.
