NAY PYI TAW, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar earned 348.9898 million U.S. dollars at the 10-day Mid-Year Gems Emporium in Nay Pyi Taw, said U Than Zaw Oo, deputy chairman of the emporium committee Wednesday.
A total of 44 gem lots and 4041 jade lots were sold at the emporium out of 439 gem lots and 5988 jade lots were exhibited.
The exhibited rough jade lots, gems, pearls and jewelries, at the emporium, were set to be sold in Euro currency. Gems lots and jade lots were set for sale through open tender and competitive bidding.
U Than Zaw Oo said that the Mid-Year Emporium fetched less than in July due to new regulations for taxation.
1796 foreign gem merchants and 1746 local gem merchants participated the emporium.
Nearly 9,000 rough jade lots were exhibited at last year's emporium, earning 990 million U.S. dollars.
The export value of jade and other mineral resources of the country reached 648.313 million U.S. dollars as of Nov.18 this fiscal year 2016-2017, while that of the same period of last fiscal year was 826.778 million U.S. dollars, according to the figures of ministry of commerce.
