TOKYO, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Road collapse in a commercial district in southwestern Japan caused power failure and disruption of traffic on Tuesday morning.
The road cave occurred near a busy station in the Hakata district in Fukuoka City at around 5:15 a.m. on Tuesday.
No injuries were reported so far and the police is investgating the cause.
The cause of the accident was suspected to be linked to an ongoing construction of a subway line nearby, according to local media.
Police said the sinkhole stretches across multiple lanes, and part of it appears to be expanding.
Electricity has been cut off to over 100 buildings in the area and people in the buildings nearby are being evacuated.
